ABOUT US

About

Across the country, educational institutions are establishing AICTE-IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation & Application) Labs to encourage the use of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) principles through hands-on activities, experiential learning, and product visualization. These laboratories are intended to foster students' imagination and creativity while equipping them with critical thinking, problem-solving, design thinking, teamwork, communication, and lifelong learning—all of which are key 21st-century skills. As a shared resource among schools, the IDEA Lab will provide academics with the tools they need to support interdisciplinary research and instruction. In order to effectively mentor students, faculty members will be encouraged to train in these labs and create issues, projects, and internships related to their professional areas. In summary, IDEA Labs have the potential to empower both students and faculty to engage, explore, experience, express, and excel, thereby addressing the requirements of contemporary education.

An all-inclusive facility, the IDEA Lab provides all the tools required to assist in turning an idea into a prototype. As stated in the Scheme Document, the main goal is to promote the creation of innovative concepts, but there is also a focus on giving engineers the chance to work directly with cutting-edge tools, equipment, and supplies. More teachers and students will probably be motivated to work on creative projects and receive training in cooperation, problem-solving, and creative thinking, among other abilities, if these resources are made available on campus around-the-clock. This is a big change from the conventional laboratory arrangement, which frequently doesn't offer these kinds of opportunities.

By enabling students to cultivate their inventive and creative skills throughout their academic careers and beyond, the IDEA Lab hopes to revolutionize engineering education. The Lab hopes to do this by providing training sessions to interested parties and by making its facilities available to all students. To guarantee that students are prepared for success, the Lab will also offer project assistance and online learning resources. To put it briefly, the IDEA Lab is a significant advancement in engineering education, and other institutions and universities hoping to enhance their students' educational experiences will probably follow its lead due to its success.

IDEA Labs will be monitored on a regular basis and will be required to go by a Code of Conduct that was created by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and detailed in the Scheme Document. Data on 15 to 20 different metrics must be supplied and uploaded to an AICTE-maintained website on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis, depending on the AICTE's requirements, in order to facilitate such monitoring. To create an overall score that represents the success of each IDEA Lab, these parameters will be assessed and given point values. This data will be made publicly accessible on the AICTE website, where a leader board showcasing each IDEA Lab's composite score will show its overall performance and weekly standing in relation to other labs.

The goal of this monitoring method is to raise institutions' profile among stakeholders and garner praise from a variety of sources. The AICTE seeks to advance high-quality education and industry best practices in engineering and related subjects by fostering accountability and openness via frequent monitoring and assessment. The leader board will be used to encourage healthy competition and motivate IDEA Labs to pursue excellence across the board. All things considered, this strategy is a significant step in encouraging increased responsibility, openness, and quality control in technical education in India.

Duration of the Project:

The initiative will last for two years after the institute receives the cash. For two years, AICTE will oversee the IDEA Lab as a component of the IDEA Labs Network (IDEALNET), allowing the fully operational Lab to demonstrate the campus's culture shift.

Monitoring:

By default, all IDEA Labs will join the IDEA Lab Network and be periodically monitored based on shared criteria determined by AICTE. With cooperation, the publicly viewable performance might be normalized to encourage healthy competition among all IDEA Labs. With collaborations also incentivized. As a result of the professors and graduates' improved quality, the institution's profile will be greatly increased.

Monitoring Mechanism:

As scheduled by AICTE, data on 15–20 factors must be submitted and uploaded weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Points based on parameters will be added up to reflect the overall performance. The performance of all IDEA Labs will be reflected on a website maintained by AICTE.

Plan for the sustenance of AICTE-IDEA Lab beyond 2 years:

  • There will be an exclusive Annual Budget of the college entrusted by the management catering to man power, equipment and maintenance cost.
  • Gudur is City with buzzing economic activities with huge Investments for Thermal power plants, Proximity to SEZ at Sri City, and major ports.
  • Tirupati and Nellore district boasts of many Engineering colleges, Medical, Dental & Pharmacy colleges, Polytechnic colleges, Degree colleges, Schools and ITIs.
  • Revenue generation through Consultancy to MSME sectors, Start-ups and Researchers Extended its design and development services in a Turnkey basis and this gives an opportunity to the MSME to design, develop and upgrade their product lines.
  • The Lab could be an economically viable resource as the MSME need not travel other metro cities for the design requirements and this would also be an opportunity for revenue generation.
  • Skill Development for faculty, technicians and students from other institutions and industry.
